
On Wednesday, August 27 over 50 people showed up at the Levi Heywood Library to learn how they could support their immigrant neighbors in powerful and concrete ways. Presenting at the meeting where representatives from MIRA, LUCE, BIJAN, and local groups like Gardner immigration Circle, and Massachusetts Immigrant Advocates. More information to come.
Informational Meeting
On Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 5:30 – 6:45 PM, there will be an informational meeting at the Levi Heywood Memorial Library in Gardner, open to all, to inform and discuss the current situation and offer opportunities for people to learn about local efforts and talk to people about getting involved. If you have wanted to know more or how you can help, this will be a great opportunity to connect with others around our shared concerns. Doors will open at 5:00 pm.
This gathering will feature:
- Brief updates on immigrant justice in our area
- 2-minute intros from local organizations and initiatives
- Meet-up with folks working on current projects to learn more
Some of the opportunities to get involved include but are not limited to:
- teaching English language skills
- mentoring to acclimate to life in a new country/culture
- helping people find jobs, housing, churches, healthcare
- registering children in schools
- “Know Your Rights” trainings
- facilitating legal consultations
- demonstrating/stand-outs
- contacting legislators for support
