Who We Are

We’re an ad hoc group of neighbors from Greater Gardner united by a belief in the essential value of all human beings. We’ve been standing, in this spot, in solidarity, peace and compassion since November, 2024. We stand for democracy and the rights of all people for safety, security, shelter and joy.

Founding Ideals

Throughout history, the U.S. has been shaped by immigrants who embody the nation’s founding ideals, proving that equality extends beyond birthplace to embrace shared humanity and opportunity.

“Immigrants have always been part of the vanguard of the fight for freedom.”

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, U.S. Supreme Court (1993–2020)

American Values

The idea that all people are created equally is deeply rooted in American values, drawing from the Declaration of Independence, which states that “all men are created equal” and are endowed with “unalienable Rights” such as “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.” This principle has influenced the U.S. Constitution, particularly in the Fourteenth Amendment, which guarantees equal protection under the law for all persons within the United States.

Land Acknowledgment The region of Greater Gardner Massachusetts, is part of the ancestral and unceded homelands of the Nipmuc people:

We acknowledge that we are gathering on the ancestral, traditional, and unceded lands of the Nipmuc people, who have stewarded this land for generations and continue to do so today. We honor the enduring relationship between the Nipmuc Nation and this territory, and we recognize the ongoing presence and sovereignty of Indigenous peoples in Massachusetts and beyond.
